AUTUMN 2: Inspiration Book Awards

SCHOOLS LIBRARY SERVICE: INSPIRATION BOOK AWARDS

This year, KS1 and Early Years are joining in with the ‘Coventry Inspiration Book Awards’.

WHAT ARE THEY?

Each year the Schools Library Service runs its own book awards.  This year, we, with schools across the county, are taking part to choose the winners in the ‘What’s The Story’ category.

CATEGORY

YEAR GROUPS

What’s The Story

Reception, Year 1 and 2

Within this category, 8 books have been chosen, by children’s librarians and teachers, which reflect a diverse range of genres and styles giving different viewpoints on the world.  They were chosen to help children find the right story which grabs their attention and makes them want to carry on reading for ENJOYMENT.

We will be reading, commenting and voting for the children’s favourites across the Spring Term!

The awards have now started and schools across Coventry children are busy reading the books in their categories.

VOTING

Each week the children will vote online for their favourite book in their category.  Our first vote will be on Friday 27th January.  Over the weekend, all of the votes from across Coventry will be counted and on Monday 30th January the book with the least amount of votes is KNOCKED OUT.  This repeats each week until Monday 6th March when the FINAL THREE are left.  We then have 10 days to vote for our winning book from these final three.  The winning books will be announced on Wednesday 15th March 2022.

Please talk to your child about the different books they are reading in school and which one is their favourite.  We’ve given you an overview of the books in the ‘What’s The Story’ category on the following few pages.

Use the link to the Inspiration Book Awards below: there are LOTS of links, once you click on one of the books, to the author’s websites and videos, as well as ideas for other books they may like if they enjoyed that one.  Why not vote at home too!
