Welcome

Welcome to St Barts

Please enjoy our video all about our wonderful school, St Barts.

It is my absolute pleasure to have been appointed the Executive Headteacher at St Bartholomew’s Church of England Academy.

My job here is to ensure that ALL pupils feel SAFE; that ALL pupils are HAPPY, and that ALL pupils have access to the best LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES.

Everything we do at St Barts is underpinned by our Christian Vision: 'Believe. Belong. Become'.  Through our shared world view, we want pupils and parents/carers to feel like they truly are part of our school, and the school to belong within the community. Through this sense of belonging, our children become the best version of themselves and simply just ‘really good people’ with the following values:

  • OOMPH! …giving everything you have to everything you do!
  • Resilience…‘fall down 7 times, stand up 8!’
  • Manners…’manners open doors’
  • Diversity…’the one thing we ALL have in common’
  • Positivity and smiles…’If you see someone without a smile today, let them borrow yours’
  • Truthfulness…’tell the truth even if your voice shakes, BECAUSE nothing you confess will make me love you less’

We are ALL so proud of our cultures, and they are what make St Barts such a special and safe place to be .

We also have a ZERO TOLERANCE approach to bullying! No child (or member of staff) should ever have to be afraid to come to school. I never have, and I never will, accept any form of bullying in any school I lead. Pupils at St Barts will clearly tell anybody what we say to bullies...”OI YOU, GET OUT!”

I am also proud to lead such a dedicated and passionate team of staff. All staff are wholeheartedly driven by the urge to ensure all children are safe, happy, and able to progress well. Staff members quote that the school gets under your skin’, personifying how unique and special the school is.

If any parent or carer have any concerns or worries about anything, at St Barts we welcome you to come and discuss them with us at the soonest opportunity – our doors are always open. We believe that working together not only builds a sense of community, but helps ensure that pupils, families and staff feel both safe and happy.

I look forward to working with you all.

Mrs Carvell
