Uniform

Basic uniform

Boys should wear grey trousers, a plain white or red polo shirt and a red sweatshirt.

Girls should wear grey trousers or skirts, a white or red polo shirt and a red cardigan or sweatshirt.

In summer, boys may wear short trousers in the same colours and girls may wear red and white summer dresses. Plain black school shoes should be worn. If black boots or wellingtons are worn to walk to and from school, these need to be changed and shoes or black pumps worn inside.

All uniform should be clearly labelled with the child's name and class.

Extreme hair styles are not permitted and hair should not be dyed or coloured. It is advisable that children with long hair have their hair tied back for school.

Order forms for school uniform - red sweat shirts and white polo shirts - are sent out each term or are available from the school office.

Plain red sweat shirts can be bought or school sweatshirts and polo shirts are available to buy from Cat Ballou in Ironmonger Row or School Trends online. Cat Ballou and https://www.schooltrends.co.uk/

PE kit bags and replacement reading bags are available from the school office.

Jewellery

Jewellery is not permitted, other than studs for pierced ears. Any child wearing jewellery will be asked to remove it and the item will be kept by the teacher in an envelope, until the end of the day.

PE kit

Children should wear a plain white t-shirt and black shorts, or a tracksuit bottoms for outdoor PE when the weather is colder. No hooded tops for safety purposes, children should wear a red sweat top or fleece to keep warm in the winter.  Football shirts should not be worn. A change of footwear should be worn - trainers or pumps. All jewellery should be removed and long hair tied back. Any stud earrings that cannot be removed will need to be covered with micropore tape for PPE lessons, which school will provide.

Forgotten PE kit

We do expect children to bring their PE kit to school when needed.

Cold or warm weather

In cold weather, children should wear a warm coat and hats, gloves and scarves may also be worn.  In warm weather, children should bring a sun hat for outdoor use. If sun protection lotion is brought to school it should be clearly labelled. Children are responsible for applying sun cream themselves.

Reading bag and Reading diary

When children start at St Bartholomew's, parents can purchase a red reading bag. They
should bring this to school each day until at least the end of Year 2. Replacement bags can be purchased from the office. Each child should also have a reading diary which should come into school every day. The reading diary should record reading at home daily or at school and it also has space for comments for parents and staff.

Lost property

All uniform, including shoes, should be named. Lost property is kept by the Welcome Room and is disposed of periodically.
